An Employee Documentation workshop is client specific and is designed to match employment contracts and the staff handbook to the needs of the business and the operating style of the owner(s).

Preparation
In advance of the workshop we will review in detail any employment contracts you have in place to assess its fit for your purpose. Send us your existing documentation for review and we’ll be in touch. Alternatively we can send you a checklist of the clauses you might want to include in your employment contracts. We will also ask you to complete a checklist of employment policies that you feel might be appropriate for your business.
At the workshop
The workshop is divided into two parts each about 2-3 hours long and is held with the business owner(s) and any member of staff who has responsibility for staffing matters such as the office manager. The first part of the workshop is to understand your business, get a feel for your management style, agree the key clauses needed in your employment contracts and the key policies you want in your staff handbook.
There can be a tendency to cut and paste clauses and policies from different sources that not only may contradict each other but don’t provide you with the protection you thought you were getting. Often it is a case of less is more to keep things simple, particularly in the early days of the business. Clauses and policies can always be added in the future.
The second part of the workshop is around 2 weeks later. The purpose of this is to review the draft employment contracts and policies to make sure they are right for you and to check your understanding of the implications of having these clauses and policies in place.
After the workshop
There are likely to be revisions after the second workshop. This is normal and where pragmatism kicks in. It is about getting the balance between protecting the business and not getting bound up in bureaucracy.
You will then receive blank employment contracts fit for your business and a staff handbook ready to be put on your server to be accessed by staff.
We would also include a 1-2 hour workshop for your employees so that they understand what is in the contract and handbook and can ask any questions about their employment rights.
